1. Inhaltliche Schwerpunkte:
- European and American traditions and visions: landmarks in British history: monarchy, democracy, participation; the American Dream then and now
- Globalization-global challenges: economic and ecological issues-towards sustainable development; international peace-keeping at the turn of the century: the role of the UN and the USA
- Post-colonialism and migration: the post-colonial experience in India; cultural diversity in the USA; the role of the New English Literatures: Indian and Pakistani communities in Britain
- Shakespeare- a literary 'giant' in the 21th century: Shakespeare and the Elizabethan World; in-depth study of a play and coresponding film passages/scenes from theatre performances
- Utopia and dystopia-exploring alternative worlds: science and ethics: genetic engineering; science fiction, fantasy and utopia
2. Medien und Materialien:
- Sach- und Gebrauchstexte: Textformate der Druckmedien: Leitartikel internationaler Presse; Textformate der öffentlichen Rede: Politische Reden
- Literarische Texte: Roman: (In unserem Fall) Aldous Huxley, Brave New World; Drama: Shakespeare, Macbeth; Lyrik: Shakespeare's sonnets and Elizabethan poetry
- Spielfilm: Gurinder Chadha, Bend it like Beckham
(Anmerkung: Im Abitur 2008 müssen wir noch nicht damit rechnen, einen Hörtext oder Filmausschnitt zu analysieren. Es kann jedoch eine Teilaufgabe auf den hier genannten Film beziehen, die die Kenntnis des Films voraussetzt.)
